VelocityEHS’s Latest Acquisitions Help Answer The Growing Demand For Solutions To Support Firms’ Mounting Ergonomic Challenges

On March 9, 2022, EHS solutions provider, VelocityEHS, announced the acquisition of two software solutions for job analysis and return-to-work management from MyAbilities, a global innovator in smart health technology and workplace safety. In addition, the purchase also comprises the intellectual properties of JobX, an ActiveEHS physical demands analysis (PDA) application that assists employers in matching people to tasks through more specific Essential Job Functions and more informed Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET), and ClaimX, a return-to-work solution that allows employees to smoothly return to their jobs after lost-time incidents. These products' capabilities will be combined into the VelocityEHS Accelerate Platform to support the digitisation and transformation of ergonomics workflows into an integrated offering.

Typically, when an injured worker has physical restrictions, it is challenging to find meaningful work to which they can safely return. However, getting back to work quickly and safely reduces costs to the employer and often shortens the time for the employee to return to full capabilities. The combined capabilities of JobX and ClaimX allow employers to accurately evaluate the ability of the person to safely return to their previous job, understand the modifications necessary in their previous job to accommodate these restrictions, or to identify other jobs in the plant that the employee could safely perform with their restrictions.

These solutions offer significant relevance within today’s market as they focus on prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) during an employee’s initial post-offer and onboarding period as well as a smoother, more optimized return-to-work process. By objectively focusing on essential job functions, tasks and physical, cognitive, and psychosocial demands, the software enables employers to not only match new employees to appropriate jobs, but also return an employee back to work faster and safer after an absence. Ultimately, firms will see decreased costs (direct and indirect), improved productivity, and an overall healthier workforce.

This acquisition highlights the increasing importance of worker health and safety. The value of implementing such solutions only continues to grow as worker wellbeing remains among the key focus areas for businesses. Ensuring that workers can safely perform their jobs from their initial hire, as well as creating a safe and effective return-to-work process are essential to maintaining a healthy, productive workforce.
