SAI360’s Acquisition Of Evotix Is A Statement Of Intent To Win Mid-Market Mindshare

On May 2, 2023, integrated enterprise risk management provider SAI360 announced that it had acquired EHS software provider Evotix, a fast-growing mobile-first EHS and training firm headquartered in London.

The deal reinforces SAI360’s commitment to bolstering its integrated ESG, GRC, EHS and learning platform, following the streamlining of its business model in 2021. The rationalization of SAI360 as a software-only firm through the sale of the SAI Global Standards and Assurance divisions has thus far proven successful, resulting in SAI360’s acquisition by private equity firm Symphony Technology Group (STG) in January 2023. With fresh ownership, STG wasted little time acting on the potential of SAI360’s EHS business. The acquisition of Evotix follows sound strategic logic for several reasons. It allows SAI360 to:

  • Tap into the EHS software mid-market growth opportunity.
As a mobile-first vendor, Evotix is firmly positioned towards mid-market customers – a segment Verdantix identifies as growing at a rate outpacing the wider EHS software market. Evotix has not been coy about its successes in this space either, boasting cumulative growth of more than 40% for the eighth straight year in 2022. Integrating Evotix’s usability-centric EHS offering will enhance SAI360’s value proposition for small organizations and bring a host of mid-market customers onboard.
  • Strengthen its existing regional presence whilst broadening its industry expertise.
SAI360’s EHS software customers are distributed across Australasia, Europe, Asia and North America. With Evotix headquartered in London, and having further offices in the UK as well as in Chicago and Melbourne, it nicely compliments SAI360’s existing geographic presence. New business opportunities will come from Evotix expanding SAI360’s mid-market presence and industry expertise into low- and medium-risk verticals such as food and beverage, retail, logistics and municipalities.
  • Bolster its EHS headcount to better challenge the industry’s top players.
Despite reduced EHS software resources compared with Cority, Enablon and Intelex, SAI360 has crafted a platform that places it among the most prominent of EHS software providers. The vendor is featured in the top seven providers in our most recent Green Quadrant EHS software benchmarking. With only 450-odd employees firm-wide, SAI360 has been competing against organizations with more EHS talent resources. The addition of Evotix’s 150-plus workforce will give added firepower to SAI360’s EHS software business, whilst still allowing Evotix to have a significant voice in the new business – as opposed to being a bolt-on to a larger pure-play EHS vendor.
  • Further execute a holistic ESG strategy and level up EHS training.
SAI360 is primed to execute a holistic ESG software solution, thanks to its ability to tie together the E, S and G data sets through a combined EHS and GRC offering. Although Evotix’s platform is notably lacking in deep GHG and air emissions management functionality, its contribution to health and safety data sets furthers SAI360’s high-level ESG agenda. Another prominent feature of Evotix’s Assure platform is its micro-learning solution, Learn, developed through the acquisition of StoryShare in 2021.

In short, SAI360’s acquisition is a rational strategic move to further develop its overall ESG vision and expand its presence in the thriving EHS software mid-market. For more up-to-date insights on the EHS software market, visit our website.
