Lost In AI Complexity? These 25 Consulting Providers Have Your Back

As enterprise AI adoption accelerates, organizations are seeking innovative strategies to integrate AI into their operations. However, many firms struggle to scale these initiatives due to governance hurdles, talent shortages and the inherent complexity of AI technologies. Third-party consultants are becoming indispensable in bridging the gap between AI aspirations and practical execution, offering the expertise needed to navigate these challenges.

According to the 2024 Verdantix AI global corporate survey, 72% of firms plan to increase their AI budgets by double-digit percentages in 2025. This surge in investment underscores AI’s growing role in business transformation, particularly in functions like sales, marketing and customer service. However, many organizations lack the internal expertise to manage AI governance, compliance and scalability effectively, making third-party service providers essential partners in AI implementation. Industrial firms, in particular, are ramping up consultant-led GenAI initiatives, with 43% of industrial operations decision-makers planning increased spending, and a further 31% seeking new budgets for GenAI projects.

While AI investments continue to rise, firms still struggle with implementation due to technological complexity rather than cost concerns. Among senior AI and IT executives, 42% cite AI complexity as the biggest barrier to adoption, compared with just 11% who view consultant costs as the most significant obstacle. This highlights the critical role of AI service providers in guiding organizations through AI deployment challenges, from strategy development to operational execution.

To provide clarity on the consulting landscape, the Verdantix Smart Innovators: Enterprise AI Services report benchmarks 25 vendors across six core capabilities: AI strategy; data and cloud; AI talent and enterprise management; responsible AI; generative AI; and AI and ML model development. The benchmark highlights the following areas of innovation:

  • AI-enabled platforms for seamless integration.
Service providers such as Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte and EY are developing comprehensive AI platforms that unify strategy, data and deployment, streamlining AI adoption and improving organizational efficiency. These platforms reduce silos, accelerate time-to-value, and enable firms to manage AI initiatives with greater transparency and control.

  • Scalable MLOps frameworks for automation.
Advanced MLOps frameworks are automating AI model lifecycle management, ensuring continuous performance monitoring, retraining and adaptation to evolving business needs. By reducing operational burdens, these frameworks enable data science teams to focus on strategic AI initiatives. For example, IBM’s watsonx.ai provides clients with robust tools to maintain model accuracy and performance over time, with automated retraining workflows and performance dashboards. These frameworks also enable rapid adaptation to changing business needs, such as the incorporation of new data sets or evolving compliance requirements.

  • Custom AI model development for business impact.
AI service providers such as Cognizant, Genpact, Infosys and KPMG are enhancing model customization to align with specific client needs. Tailored AI solutions optimize performance, reduce deployment timelines and drive measurable improvements across industries, helping organizations unlock new opportunities for innovation and efficiency.

In total, Verdantix benchmarked 25 vendors: Accenture, Atos, BCG (Boston Consulting Group), Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, DXC Technology, EY, Fujitsu Services, Genpact, HCLTech, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Hitachi Digital Services, IBM, Infosys, KPMG, Kyndryl, McKinsey & Company, Mphasis, Publicis Sapient, PwC, Slalom, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro and Zensar.
