For 2026, 54% of firms view safe operations as a high priority, with 66% of organizations planning single- or double-digit increases in spend on operational safety initiatives, according to the Verdantix Global Corporate Survey 2025: Industrial Transformation Budgets, Priorities And Tech Preferences. This represents a continued rise from the 63% of respondents who indicated planned increases in safety investment in the 2025 survey. Safety initiatives are expected to see the largest share of double-digit spending increases across industries, reflecting both regulatory pressure and a genuine organizational commitment to reducing operational risk.
ASSET PERFORMANCE
Investment in uptime, reliability and asset performance continues to grow.
Initiatives to improve asset uptime, availability, reliability and integrity see the broadest commitment to increased spending across industrial sectors. Only 29% of firms expect spending on asset performance initiatives to remain the same, and none have plans to decrease investment, according to Verdantix survey data. This reflects the centrality of asset performance to industrial competitiveness, operational efficiency and cost reduction, as well as a growing recognition that AI-powered asset performance management tools can deliver material improvements in maintenance strategy and prescriptive recommendations.
ENERGY & DECARBONIZATION
Energy efficiency and decarbonization remain key investment priorities.
Over a third of respondents to our survey (38%) view reducing energy consumption at the asset and plant level as a high priority for their firms in 2026, driven by rising energy costs, regulatory scrutiny and brand considerations. At the same time, decarbonization investment continues to grow: 57% of firms plan to increase spend on decarbonization initiatives in 2026, up from 46% in the previous year’s survey. Although some decarbonization initiatives are receiving less immediate focus amid regulatory uncertainty, industrial firms in multiple sectors and regions remain committed to the long-term benefits of investing in both energy efficiency and emissions reduction in parallel.
