Greenomy And ERM Partner To Ensure ESG Compliance And Drive Sustainability Performance Improvements

On 13th September 2023, ESG reporting software provider Greenomy announced that it had formed a strategic partnership with consultancy ERM. Founded in 2020, Greenomy — which specializes in ESG reporting, notably in line with the CSRD and EU Taxonomy — already boasts a strong portfolio of advisory partners, including Accenture, Deloitte, EY, Microsoft, PwC and Roland Berger. This latest partnership with ERM adds another string to its bow; uniting its technology with ERM’s sustainability expertise to help firms ensure compliance with sustainable finance disclosure regulations and elevate their sustainability performance.

The strategic partnership highlights an emerging trend in the ESG and sustainability market, where an increasing number of software and services providers are forming alliances to deliver integrated solutions to clients (see Verdantix Market Overview: The ESG & Sustainability Software And Services Partnership Ecosystem). In large part, this owes to the growing complexity of ESG and sustainability regulations and the volume of data that needs to be reported. As an example, there are well over 3,700 data points underpinning the EU Taxonomy and CSRD alone, with the EU Taxonomy requiring data from all echelons of an organization — from the individual-site-level to the entity-level (see Verdantix Strategic Focus: Unpacking The EU Taxonomy). Partnerships between software and sustainability advisors, such as Greenomy and ERM, will prove vital to streamline reporting processes and guarantee investor-grade data.

In a crowded ESG and sustainability market, this strategic partnership will provide Greenomy with another distribution channel through which to increase its market share. The ability to automate compliance processes will benefit ERM’s sustainability consultants, enabling them to focus their efforts on strategy development and operational initiatives to drive sustainability performance improvements for their clients. In our report, Verdantix Strategic Focus: Customer Insights Into ESG Reporting And Data Management Software, we found that customers often prefer a combination of software and services, particularly when it comes to identifying areas for improvement, setting targets and formulating impactful action plans. As competition in the ESG and sustainability market intensifies, we expect to see more partnerships between software and service providers to meet evolving business needs and ensure mutual success.
