Assent’s EUDR Solution: Navigating The EU Deforestation Regulation Deadline

The world has been losing primary tropical forest cover at a rate of 11 football fields per minute, as of 2022. Entering into force on December 30, 2025, the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) represents the EU’s comprehensive effort to address this global problem and drive corporate accountability.

The regulation requires that regulated products placed on the EU market – such as wood, rubber, soy, palm oil and cocoa – are not only deforestation-free but also fully traceable to their specific plot of origin. Within this complex landscape, Assent, a supply chain sustainability management software provider, has launched its dedicated EUDR solution, aiming to help manufacturers meet the looming deadline and avoid significant business, legal and reputational risks.

The stakes for manufacturers
The EUDR marks a step change in regulatory expectations. Beyond requiring deforestation-free sourcing, it mandates that every shipment be documented with polygon-level geo-coordinates, legal clearance and a formal due diligence statement. Failure to comply may result in fines of up to 4% of annual EU revenue, blocked shipments or even market exclusion. For firms, the greatest technical hurdle lies in the depth of supply chain traceability now required. Achieving the polygon-level traceability the EUDR demands is particularly difficult for manufacturers working with deep, complex and frequently international supply chains. Many suppliers do not have prior experience with these kind of requirements, creating an urgent need for new tools, processes and educational support.

Assent’s approach: supplier engagement
Assent’s EUDR solution builds directly on its supplier engagement model and compliance platform. At its core, the solution is designed to:

  • Identify in-scope products and commodities using bills of materials and HS code data.
  • Enable traceability to plot-level geolocation for at-risk materials, such as rubber and wood.
  • Generate compliant due diligence statements for every shipment.
  • Automate supplier outreach in multiple languages, supporting education and document requests.

EUDR software landscape
Assent is not the only vendor responding to EUDR pressures: IntegrityNext, Source Intelligence and Sourcemap have all recently launched EUDR solutions. Several vendors have also released industry-specific EUDR tools, like TraceGains for food & beverage and TrusTrace for textiles. Other vendors – such as Circularise, Optel and Prewave – are building on their traceability software offerings, while specialist solutions are emphasizing their geodata capabilities (Coolset) and AI risk models (TraceX Technologies). Deciding between platforms typically comes down to the capacity for data integration, traceability depth, sector expertise and the quality of supplier engagement tools.

With the EUDR entering into force on December 30, 2025, manufacturers across industries must act now – to maintain not only compliance but also EU market access and credibility. Delayed action risks business disruption, shipment delays and long-term reputational damage.
