Phil Clarke

As a chartered EHO and H&S practitioner, Phil’s career in risk commenced with twelve years of service in the Army’s Intelligence Corps. In 2002 Phil re-traded as an Environmental Health Officer.  Following retirement from the military in 2009, Phil worked in several sectors before focusing on health and social care, joining Nuffield Health as the Safety and Standards Assurance Manager for the hospital division in 2012, and promoted to Head of Health and Safety for the charity in 2017.  After a period working in construction and facilities management, Phil returned to the health and social care sector as Head of Health and Safety at Care UK in 2022.  Phil holds a degree in History, an MSc in Environmental Health, and is presently on his PhD journey, researching operational risk assessment following the Professional Doctorate pathway.
