Verdantix Reveals The Winners Of The 2024 Climate Innovation Awards EMEA
London, UK. Verdantix, the independent purpose-driven research firm, is proud to announce the winners of its 2024 Climate Innovation Awards EMEA. These prestigious awards recognize organizations driving positive change in sustainability and climate action, and are open to any firm operating in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“Verdantix is committed to empowering organizations to make a meaningful impact and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future,” said Ryan Skinner, Research Director, Net Zero & Energy Transition at Verdantix. “By recognizing these outstanding achievements, the Awards aim to inspire action, promote collaboration, and drive the development of cutting-edge solutions that address critical global climate challenges.”
The 2024 Climate Innovation Awards EMEA winners are:
Climate Digital Champion Award
- Winner: Aviva
As the first major UK financial services institution to commit to a Net Zero goal, Aviva undertook a comprehensive digitization of its sustainability operations. This initiative resulted in enhanced oversight of climate and ESG performance, improved disclosure quality, and enabled granular tracking across multiple markets.
- Runner-up: D&B Group
Scope 3 Metrics & Supply Chain Sustainability Award
- Winner: Together for Sustainability
Addressing the chemical industry’s significant contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions, Together for Sustainability (TfS) launched a groundbreaking initiative to drive accountability and transparency. TfS introduced the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Guideline, enabling reliable emissions data exchange across the value chain. This resulted in over 30 TfS members actively using the platform – and over 4,000 suppliers participating – setting a new standard for collaborative emissions management in the chemical sector.
- Runner-up: Trane Technologies
Renewable Energy Innovator Award
- Winner: 26 leading pharmaceutical firms that sponsor the Energize supply chain decarbonization programme: Almirall, Amgen, AstraZeneca, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol Myers Squibb, Charles River Laboratories, Chiesi Group, GSK, Haleon, Johnson & Johnson, Kenvue, Merck (known as MSD outside the United States and Canada), Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Roche, Sandoz, Sanofi, Schott, Takeda, Teva and UCB.
Launched in 2021, the programme accelerates renewable electricity adoption by providing suppliers with critical education and access to sustainability expertise, addressing key barriers to entry in the renewables market. The programme has engaged over 750 suppliers and formed four multi-buyer cohorts representing a potential 2 terawatt-hours of renewable electricity demand, significantly contributing to Scope 3 emissions reduction goals.
In addition to the outstanding organizations that have invested in innovative projects, the awards also highlight the invaluable contributions of supporting technology and consulting firms, including Cority, Siemens and Schneider Electric.
The awards ceremony took place on November 26, 2024, at The Waldorf hotel in London, as part of the Verdantix Climate Summit EMEA. This premier event brought together hundreds of senior leaders to exchange insights and experiences, empowering them to redefine their climate strategies and shape the future of their businesses.
