Proemion Acquires TrendMiner To Complete Its Full-Stack Industrial Data And Analytics Offering

On April 18th, 2024, Proemion Holding, a global data and analytics provider focused on mobile industrial assets, announced its acquisition of TrendMiner from Software AG. This acquisition marks a significant shift into advanced analytics for Proemion – expanding its footprint beyond fleet data management and into the vast asset monitoring and analytics utilized by firms in chemical manufacturing, food and beverage, and oil and gas.

Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Fulda, Germany, Proemion employs around 150 staff across its offices in Ohio, US and Seoul, South Korea. The provider received a €33.5 million ($33 million) investment in October 2022 from Boston-headquartered Battery Ventures. At the time, Proemion planned to “use funds to expand telematics technology globally, move into new markets and pursue acquisitions as more customers manage fleets remotely”.

TrendMiner's advanced time-series-focused industrial analytics platform offers extensive pre-built connectors to process historians and EAM, ERP and laboratory information management systems – offering both low-code analytics to process engineers and sophisticated data contextualization and modelling to data scientists. Its robust capabilities in production and process management as well as predictive maintenance and condition monitoring align directly with the dominant spending trends. Around half of respondents to the 2023 operational excellence global survey state that they plan single- or double-digit increases in spend on production optimization (48%), predictive maintenance (58%) and condition monitoring software (43%).

As a connectivity provider, Proemion will largely take the place of TrendMiner’s former IoT-focused sister firm, Cumulocity, to bridge the data acquisition gap from both new and legacy industrial assets, static or otherwise. Over time, TrendMiner will provide the final layer of the industrial data stack for Proemion: value-generating industrial analytics applications.

The acquisition of TrendMiner offers Proemion significant time series analytical capabilities in addition to process industry presence – while offering TrendMiner’s existing customer base access to both IIoT hardware and data integration solutions. This move is likely to position Proemion’s TrendMiner as something differentiated from its process-industry-focused North American rival Seeq.
