EHS practitioners are talking with their wallets: 45% state that they are increasing their annual spend on occupational health. A core focus within this category is supporting positive mental health and wellbeing, as over 40% of EHS professionals indicate that their organizations will either increase the rollout of or pilot digital mental health and wellbeing solutions in 2025. This uptick in focus on mental health appears to be global in nature, with regional variation of just 7 percentage points between firms in Middle East and Africa, Asia and Oceania, Europe, North America, and Latin America and the Caribbean. In practice, solutions adopted might include EHS and occupational health platforms with mental health functionality, fitness wearables and virtual reality headsets – alongside a range of other mental-health-focused technologies.

While mounting, this focus on mental health and wellbeing isn’t new: enterprise firms are already using EHS and occupational health platforms to safeguard and improve mental health outcomes. For instance, Pfizer Japan uses myCority questionnaires, configured in employees’ native languages, to screen 4,000 employees for targeted wellness support. Similarly, HSI provides its enterprise clients with a configurable platform that can offer scheduled wellness surveys and assign relevant courses to help employees improve their mental health.

Alongside questionnaires and mental health resources, leading vendors in the market are utilizing AI, telehealth and a range of technology integrations to differentiate their mental health functionality within broader occupational health offerings. This is a crucial juncture for vendors and businesses alike: as workplace understanding of mental health has become more nuanced, decision-makers are scrutinizing technology offerings more closely and demanding more comprehensive solutions.
