EcoOnline Powers Up Its EHSQ Solutions With Nordic Port AB Acquisition

The EHS software market is witnessing a homogenization of stand-alone EHS functionalities into single enterprise software offerings as firms work to break down data siloes and drive the efficiency of their EHS programmes. As proof of this transition, the market has witnessed four large acquisitions among EHS software vendors during the past 18 months.

As one example of market acquisitions, in July 2019, EcoOnline announced its acquisition of Nordic Port AB, a Sweden-based EHSQ management software vendor. EcoOnline, a SaaS EHSQ software solution provider, was founded in 2000 and now has 6000 customers and over 200 employees across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the UK and Ireland. Nordic Port AB was founded in 1995 and, at the time of its acquisition by EcoOnline, employed 23 full-time staff at its Gothenburg office. Nordic Port’s SaaS offering provided chemical, environmental and quality management to customers based primarily in the pharmaceutical, public healthcare, municipalities and public transport sectors of Sweden and Norway. Nordic Port’s geographic footprint blends well with EcoOnline’s existing presence in the Norwegian market, while also adding increased visibility in Denmark, Norway and the UK.

Through this acquisition, EcoOnline looks to strengthen its flagship capabilities in chemical and SDS management and enhance its focus in EHS and quality management. Nordic Port’s functionalities dedicated to chemical management for academic and analytical labs will serve to enhance EcoOnline’s already robust Chemdoc chemical management platform and knowledge base to better serve a wider range of customers. Additionally, EcoOnline looks to add environmental and quality management capabilities to its growing suite of solutions, including its newly released safety management platform Safety Manager.
