EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

During the last four years, a combination of ramping energy costs, climate change policy, new market opportunities and competitive dynamics has encouraged FTSE 100 firms to invest in more ambitious corporate sustainability strategies. To help decision makers in roles such as CEO, CSO and COO this Green Quadrant report provides a detailed, fact-based comparison of the 14 sustainability business consulting firms most active in the UK market. The analysis is based on interviews with 15 buyers of consulting engagements, representing firms with combined revenues of $214 billion, supplier responses to a 45 point questionnaire, interviews with practice leaders in consultancies and desktop research. The report finds that four suppliers currently lead the market – Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PwC — due to the breadth of their service offerings, deep expertise and substantial investments in their own sustainability performance. Firms such as Accenture, ARUP, Camco, McKinsey and WSP Environment & Energy are also well positioned to meet specific client needs in the seven areas assessed in the report.
