Executive Summary

This report provides a detailed fact-based comparison of the 12 most prominent construction management software (CMS) solution providers in the market. Based on the proprietary Verdantix Green Quadrant methodology, our analysis comprised two-and-a-half-hour live product demonstrations with pre-set scenarios, desk research and vendor responses to an 83-point questionnaire covering four technical, five functional and eight market momentum categories. Capabilities were assessed across the following categories: data input, management and storage; data analytics and visualization; integrations; mobile application and user interface (UI); project management; document management; financial management; compliance management; and field operations management. Verdantix also conducted interviews with software customers of the assessed vendors and reviewed the data from our global survey of 100 capital project managers. Our research finds that the CMS market is being driven by rising demand for tighter cost management, the digitization of traditionally manual workflows and improved project visibility. Vendors are differentiating themselves by offering out-of-the-box advanced analytics, integrated AI tools and mobile-first functionality for site operations. While major architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) brands Autodesk and Procore stand out in the Leaders' Quadrant, our analysis highlights the unique features of each vendor and identifies their best-fit end-users. Among the vendors analysed in this study, six providers – Autodesk, Procore, RIB Software, Trimble, Nemetschek and Oracle – demonstrated leading CMS capabilities.
