Executive Summary
Despite universal recognition of the importance of employee mental health, HR functions, EHS teams and senior executives have been tasked with implementing wellbeing strategies without the guidance of a globally recognized standard. Since 2019, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has been developing 45003, the first global standard providing guidelines for managing psychosocial risk. This report aims to provide EHS and HR executives with insight into the purpose and implications of ISO 45003 as well as an understanding of the role of digital technology in facilitating mental health management. The term ‘psychosocial risk’ refers to risk factors that affect workers' psychological responses to their work and workplace conditions, such as high workloads and stringent deadlines.
