Executive Summary

This report provides chief marketing officers at consulting firms data on industrial firms’ intention for spend on digital consulting services in 2022 on asset management digitization projects. In 2021 Verdantix found that 93% of industrial firms plan to increase their spend on third-party consultants for asset management digitization projects. A deep dive into the data shows that there are both differences between industries’ intended deployment of consultants and an uneven distribution of planned spend increases. While all industries plan to use consultants to help them formulate a vision and strategy for asset maintenance digitization, some industry-specific differences emerge. For example using service providers for plant shutdown and turnaround is one of the top three use cases for oil and gas firms, whereas manufacturing firms are targeting consultants for predictive maintenance software implementation. In this report we break the data down by industry and provide analysis so that consulting firms may adjust their strategy appropriately to capture as much of this growing market as possible.
