On June 26, 2025, IFS announced the acquisition of TheLoops, an autonomous AI agent platform provider, to accelerate the deployment and enhance the capabilities of AI agents in the industrial sector.

IFS already offers solutions spanning enterprise asset management (EAM), asset performance management (APM) and field service management (FSM). The firm strengthened its asset investment planning (AIP) capabilities with the acquisition of Copperleaf in 2024. Now, it is embedding TheLoops’s platform across its industrial suite.

With this move, IFS aims to capitalize on the growing demand among industrial software users to leverage GenAI tools to further enhance and streamline operations. The Verdantix AI global corporate survey found that the top expected benefit from AI projects is gaining a competitive advantage through faster process execution. It also revealed that 99% of respondents have already implemented, or plan to implement, autonomous AI agents. Nearly half of industrial asset management executives intend to increase their GenAI investments – the most across all areas and a clear signal of growing momentum for AI-driven workflow agents.

TheLoops supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which provides a secure standard for third-party integrations. The platform has pre-defined domain-specific agents, modelled on real-world personas such as customer order managers and field technicians. These agents are designed to be self-learning, self-correcting and continuously evolving. The platform also has an agent-builder and multi-agent orchestration capabilities, enabling organizations to deploy agents with varying levels of autonomy.

The acquisition strengthens the IFS offering, allowing the firm to meet longstanding customer demand for a single integrated platform for asset management. With the addition of TheLoops platform, IFS equips itself for a future in which AI agents are a core value driver and a necessity for industrial services.
