Recognizing Innovation And Best Practice At The EHS Innovation Awards 2019

The prestigious annual EHS Innovation Awards from Independent research firm Verdantix are now open and accepting nominations, with entries closing in just two weeks.  In its third year, these awards recognize those organisations and individuals that are driving best practice in EHS improvement through technology and innovation and this year’s event will showcase 2019’s cutting-edge innovations, while bringing together key corporate and vendor stakeholders. The awards will take place at the Porsche Heritage Center in Atlanta, Georgia during the eighth Verdantix EHS Innovation Summit from 24-25 September.

The award categories cover 11 industries enabling any firm to submit itself for an award. By highlighting and rewarding the successes experienced in EHS across multiple industries, Verdantix shares success stories to assist all EHS professionals to reduce environmental damage, enhance operational safety and improve worker health.

The 2018 Verdantix EHS Innovation Awards took place at Twickenham Stadium, London and saw eleven organisations walk away as winners for their superior focus on EHS technology and innovation.  Kinder Morgan came out on top in the oil and gas category for its almost complete elimination of overdue training of frontline workers using the DuPont Learning Management System.  In the consumer products and retail category, Walmart excelled for its widely implemented environmental compliance project that consolidated large environmental data sets using a platform developed in conjunction with Enviance. Whilst Johnson Controls triumphed in the Manufacturing category for their deployment of software technology which reduced TRIR rates by 5% and LTIR rates by 12% year-over-year.

“Winning the EHS Innovation award for our ProcessMAP enterprise EHS platform implementation project was fantastic recognition for the 18 months of hard work that we have put in to implementing EHS technology which helps us improve EHS process efficiency and performance”, commented Serge Everdepoel, Global H&S Senior Manager, Johnson Controls. “As a community, it’s important for us to be sharing EHS best practices in order to learn and improve, and the Verdantix awards offered a great platform to highlight the importance of adopting new technologies in EHS and the impact they can have.”

The 2019 award winners will be selected by three independent judges who are all corporate EHS leaders. The judging panel is chaired by Verdantix CEO, David Metcalfe. “Prior winners of the Verdantix EHS Innovation Awards are some of the best-known brands in their industry” noted Metcalfe. “Too often the hard work and digital initiatives of EHS professionals are not recognized outside their own firm. These innovation awards provide a platform to recognize that hard work and also to share successes that can be adopted by other firms seeking to enhance their EHS performance.”

The nomination process for the 2019 Verdantix EHS Innovation Awards will close on the 14th of June.
