Interaptix Enhances Remote Audits And Assistance Through AptixAR Platform

In 2020, reduced staff numbers owing to COVID-borne restrictions forced many industrial firms to evaluate their approach to working through the pursuit of digital alternatives to previously analogue processes, such as inspections and audits. Initially, digital tools were utilised as a means to continue operations at comparable levels to the pre-pandemic situation. However, as organizations realised operational and productivity increases from the digitization of usually in-person work tasks, long-term adoption of digital technology and software has become more widespread.

Connected worker solutions will form a part of this shift to digital, with the market set to expand from $1.9 billion in 2020 to $4.2 billion in 2026. Interaptix is a connected worker solution provider headquartered in Toronto, Canada. The firm has developed the AptixAR platform, through which remote experts can perform audits and provide assistance to on-site workers through augmented reality. Interaptix is partnered with Cority, Infor, and more recently with STP ComplianceEHS to provide customers with an integrated remote audit solution.

AptixAR platform allows on-site workers to create high-definition 3D visualisation of workspaces or assets via camera ready tablets such as iPads or through head-mounted displays such as the Microsoft HoloLens. Remote experts can then view the captured twin from multiple angles, attaching notes to specific points, which contain observations and suggested remedial actions. Once on-site workers input that they have corrected any issues, either in real-time or asynchronously offline, the remote expert is notified immediately or when internet connectivity is restored. While virtual auditing offers firms savings and faster time to completion, Interaptix’s augmented reality approach provides remote auditors with flexibility and a greater level of detail through the creation of a digital twin of the auditing subject.

With 69% of respondents in the Verdantix operational excellence survey for 2020 noting that COVID-19 had driven investment in augmented reality solutions for remote assistance, use cases such as audits and inspections are set to digitize in the long-term. With the connected worker solutions market rapidly expanding over the next five years, solutions such as Interaptix’s AptixAR will become increasingly commonplace as hybridized work processes standardize.
