Our ESG & Sustainability Report 2024

“Since 2008, Verdantix has been shaping corporate decisions relating to sustainability strategies and investments. Aligning with our purpose to be the essential thought leader for world enhancing innovation, we have expanded our expertise and influence into a wide variety of additional business responsibilities such as worker health and safety, industrial reliability, business continuity, climate risk management, real estate optimization and – most recently – artificial intelligence. Our experts influence decision-making at some of the world’s largest businesses, and I believe that it is no exaggeration to say that we have a powerful impact on promoting more responsible corporate behaviours.”

“We also recognize that we are responsible for the direct impacts that arise from our own operations. Indeed, this is something that matters a great deal both to our employees and the firm’s leadership. A belief in the importance of sustainable business practices has been a defining part of our purpose since our foundation. No matter what the size of a firm’s operations, it has tangible negative external impacts – from the use of fossil fuels for business travel, for example, or the purchase of IT equipment. Our commitment to reporting our impacts and mitigating them is an essential factor in enabling us to recruit and retain the highly talented people who form our team.”

“For our 2024 report, we have provided a detailed breakdown of our Scope 3 carbon footprint, which represents 86% of our emissions. Despite having set a carbon budget for employee air travel, this still accounts for two-thirds of total emissions. In our 2025 report, we will set out our net zero strategy using our 2022-23 carbon footprint as a baseline. While guidance from the SBTi has varied recently on the question of using voluntary carbon market credits to claim a reduction in corporate emissions, our view is that this should not be included. We look forward to sharing more information in the future.”

Environmental impact

We are dedicated to minimizing our environmental impact through responsible energy use and emissions reduction. By adopting sustainable practices across our operations and encouraging our vendors and clients to adopt similar standards, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable future.

As an office-based services firm, the vast majority of our energy usage and emissions stem from our real estate facilities and business travel. In June 2024, we moved to a new office location in London. A major driver of this move was a desire to locate ourselves in a more energy efficient building, and I am pleased to say that we have been able to achieve this ambition. We are also committed to managing our use of air travel – and have clear policies on what constitutes a necessary journey.

Social impact

Our people are the foundation of our business. We foster a collaborative, inclusive and diverse culture that empowers our team to thrive. By investing in our team’s wellbeing, growth and development through our comprehensive benefits package and learning and development programmes, we equip our employees with a strong foundation to excel.

All managers have completed Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI training), which is reviewed annually to ensure ongoing effectiveness. We routinely survey our employees to create a workplace culture aligned with our values and, in addition, in 2024 we established an employee-led Wellbeing Committee. Regular feedback and open dialogue, such our quarterly all-employee business updates with open Q&A sessions with the executive team, helps us understand employee sentiment and inform initiatives that enhance employee engagement. Our OnHand partnership empowers employees to drive positive change through volunteering and sustainability actions.
