Executive Summary
Lacking serious legislative pressure and with relatively stable energy prices, the traditional UK energy services market has remained stuck in a state of low growth for the past five years. Despite this underlying picture, there are two important subtleties to this market which must not be overlooked. Firstly, this anaemic market growth has not been constraining for every firm, with some achieving growth rates well above the market. Secondly, beyond the traditional UK energy services segments (energy procurement, utility bill management, energy data as well as asset control services, energy consulting, energy efficiency project implementation and onsite generation installation services), new segments have emerged with far more attractive rates of growth. To examine both themes in more detail, Verdantix conducted 31 non-attributable expert interviews with stakeholders across the industry, including commercial directors and engineering leads on the supplier side.
