Executive Summary

  • This Tech Roadmap report provides an analysis of 41 energy management technologies and looks at their use across varying asset types. Areas that are covered by the technologies include storage, generation, lighting, windows, software, controls and sensors.
  • The report provides building owners, facilities managers and real estate executives with an overview of the maturity, business value, risks and likely evolution of these technologies. It helps them to identify solutions and their providers, and update future roadmaps accordingly.
  • This report builds upon our inaugural Tech Roadmap for Energy Management Technologies published in 2023 and includes a refreshed analysis of previously covered technologies, as well as analysis of five new technologies.
  • A standard graphic on Slide 7 presents a consolidated view of where the technologies are positioned according to the above factors. A detailed analysis of each technology is provided in the rest of the report.
