Executive Summary

This report helps corporate managers understand use cases for augmented reality wearables (ARWs) and evaluate them for their own operations. This report also presents the benefits of ARWs across three deployment scenarios based on whether benefits are available and proven enough in the short term to be used for EHS and operational excellence (OpEx) programmes. Verdantix has identified seven EHS and OpEx use cases for ARWs that can generate benefits for a firm ranging from job risk visualization to immersive analytics to reduce long-term EHS or OpEx risk. While there are emerging proof points of the value of these use cases, Verdantix recommends that corporate executives take a pragmatic view of their needs, risk appetite and potential business case in order to determine their wearables investment plans given the relative novelty of these solutions within the market.
