Executive Summary

This Verdantix report presents customer-driven insights obtained during interview calls with industrial firms actively using asset performance management (APM) software. We conducted these interviews as part of the research process for the Verdantix Green Quadrant benchmark report on APM software (see Verdantix Green Quadrant: Asset Performance Management (APM) Solutions (2026)). Based on real-world experiences, the report highlights how organizations are leveraging APM to reduce unplanned downtime, improve maintenance effectiveness, scale reliability programmes and preserve critical engineering knowledge across increasingly complex asset portfolios. Buyers are looking beyond predictive analytics alone, prioritizing solutions that combine low-code configurability, deep integration with maintenance and operational systems, explainable AI, and actionable prioritization capabilities. The findings also underscore that successful APM initiatives depend on strong data foundations, clear business objectives, phased deployment strategies, and close collaboration with vendors that provide both industry expertise and strategic advisory support.

Industrial firms are elevating APM from a reliability tool to a business-critical platform
Solution architecture requirements are expanding as APM becomes more embedded in the asset life cycle
APM buyers are looking beyond analytics to solutions that can drive operational change
