Executive Summary

The climate change consulting market faces significant disruption over the next five years. In 2024, global warming exceeded 1.5°C – a powerful signifier that globally coordinated climate action since 2020, built on the bedrock of the Paris Agreement, has been unsuccessful in mitigating global emissions. Concurrently, shifting policy landscapes and economic disruption has resulted in strategic fragmentation; no longer will organizations subscribe to largely homogeneous net zero strategies. Instead, organizations will develop idiosyncratic climate strategies and temper their ambitions to avoid increasing climate risks. This trend will have significant ramifications for climate change consultants, who must adapt their messaging and go-to-market strategy amid new climate contexts. This report is based on findings from the 2025 Verdantix Green Quadrant on climate change consulting, which benchmarked 12 leading providers and captured insights from 25 senior buyers of climate change consulting services (see Verdantix Green Quadrant: Climate Change Consulting (2025)). Practice leads should read this report to inform go-to-market strategies, identify priority areas for capability development and understand differentiation opportunities over the next five years.
