Executive Summary

The rise of Industry 4.0 has presented EHS professionals with a wealth of real-time data from an ever-growing array of IoT devices. To accrue a more complete picture of risk, firms must integrate data streams that traditionally fall outside the EHS remit. This report analyses the impact dynamic risk management can have on firms’ EHS programmes and prescribes best practices for firms to implement successful solutions. It takes insights from interviews with nine vendors (Aware360, Enablon, GOARC, Origami Risk, Pro-Sapien, RiskPoynt, Sphera, VelocityEHS and Xybion) at the forefront of dynamic risk management technologies. EHS and operations executives should use this report to inform their joint development strategies. The report finds the best practices for implementing dynamic risk management is to build strong internal management of change processes, develop a technology roadmap that starts with increasing data gathering from the edge and utilizing risk visualization techniques to increase the impact of real time risk data.
