Executive Summary

This report provides corporate executives and EHS software buyers in mid-market firms with an overview of the best practices for selecting the ‘right fit’ EHS software solution. The report looks at software selection from the vantage point of a buyer in a mid-sized firm, where the mix of needs, risks and resources is often very different to enterprise firms. To capture best practice insights, Verdantix segmented the mid-market into three groups based on firm size and risk profile, to allow for targeted recommendations. To gain a deeper understanding of the market, interviews were completed with corporate EHS executives at mid-market firms, as well as with vendors that have extensive prior experience of working with mid-market corporates. Verdantix finds that best practice approaches for EHS software selection involve employing a comprehensive selection process from governance to implementation and adapting selection processes to suit individual EHS situations.
