Aeroporti di Roma Partners With DEKRA To Advance Supply Chain Sustainability

Executive Summary

This report examines how organizations can advance supply chain sustainability by building supplier capability. It presents a case study of Aeroporti di Roma (ADR – an Italian airport operator) and ELEVATE, its initiative to strengthen suppliers' ESG maturity while fostering an ecosystem in which sustainability serves as a shared source of competitiveness and business value. As part of its ELEVATE programme, ADR engaged DEKRA to audit critical suppliers across key material topics, creating an evidence base for action prioritization and strategy development. DEKRA’s work with the Italian airport operator resulted in the completion of more than 50 audits, with supplier ESG scores beginning to rise, and the development of an audit methodology where no standards existed, offering key lessons for firms designing their own programmes. As DEKRA was already an ADR supplier before its audit engagement, the case study also substantiates how ELEVATE is generating commercial opportunity for one supplier, while building sustainability capability across the rest of the supply base.
