Executive Summary

Since 2012, technology change has impacted the property sector in similar ways to financial technology (fintech) in the financial sector and insurance technology (insuretech) in the insurance sector (see Verdantix Proptech Investors Aim To Force A Digital Revolution On The Real Estate Industry). Between 2012 and 2019, proptech funds have so far invested over $10 billion. In 2018, funds invested $4 billion. In 2019 thus far, this jumps to $6 billion. This report analyses these investments across six major areas (construction, commercial property management, residential property as well as smart home management, operational management, workplace management and retail management). It also evaluates their likely immediate impact on the vast real estate sector that adopts innovation slowly.
