Green Quadrant Operational Excellence Digital Services 2020
13 Feb, 2020
Executive Summary
This report provides a detailed fact-based comparison of the 12 most prominent digital operational excellence service providers. Based on the proprietary Verdantix Green Quadrant methodology, the analysis is based on two-hour interviews with practice executives at each vendor, vendor responses to a 108-point questionnaire, interviews with 10 corporate managers from four countries in the oil and gas, chemicals, mining and aerospace industries who have engaged and managed service providers for operational excellence projects, and a survey of 284 operations, maintenance, engineering and process safety executives. The analysis finds that the current operational excellence digital services market is populated with vendors from different backgrounds such as IT and business services firms, technology strategy consultants and specialist providers with expertise in specific areas such as asset management or EHS. Consultants have built up digital capabilities to deliver these large-scale operational excellence projects through acquisitions, partnerships and investments. The analysis of the service line capabilities and market momentum of the vendors reveals that five firms— Accenture, ARCADIS, AECOM, Wipro and ERM—currently lead the market, whilst the other vendors have strong capabilities in specific areas, such as asset performance management, EHS or performance improvement.
