Executive Summary
This report helps heads of marketing, product and strategy at smart building technology firms understand purchase plans for Internet of Things (IoT) platforms by industry. The report draws upon data gathered during the Verdantix 2021 corporate survey, in which we conducted interviews with 285 senior real estate decision-makers at organizations that occupy mid to large real estate portfolios. Our analysis finds that adoption of building IoT platforms has grown markedly in the last year, particularly across space monitoring and agile working usage scenarios. Investment in building IoT platforms is set to continue, with half the firms in seven industries looking to increase their spending on IoT in 2022. IoT implementations will be further boosted by lowering solution costs, adoption of private 5G networks and growing traction around sustainability.
