Executive Summary

This report provides executives at EHS software vendors and investors with a detailed analysis of the size and forecast of the global market for EHS software including both enterprise and mobile applications. According to the market model, spending on EHS software will reach $1.1 billion in 2017 and this will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 9.3% to reach $1.7 billion in 2022. Increased spending is driven by positive economic growth forecasts, private equity and corporate investment in EHS software vendors and wider knowledge of the value of software among EHS decision-makers. In 2018 and 2019, growth in vendor revenues will be limited to single digits by intense competition and a migration from upfront license fee contracts to cloud subscription contracts. Industries with high EHS risk profiles will continue to dominate spending although flat oil prices will not result in a larger role for the petro-chemicals sector. Developing economies’ share of spend will increase to a small extent during the five year forecast primarily due to higher economic growth rates.
