Executive Summary

Agentic AI represents a major technology shift for firms, promising to automate complex processes and extend AI’s role across enterprise operations. Nearly all organizations (92%) consider expanding agent deployments to be at least a moderate priority (see Verdantix Global Corporate Survey 2026: AI Budgets, Priorities And Tech Preferences). However, successful enterprise-grade deployment requires a host of prerequisite, or agentic-enabling, technologies. This Tech Roadmap report analyses 31 technologies that support enterprise agentic AI deployment. It clarifies their business value, pace of innovation and maturity across five phases of the technology life cycle: Research and Development, Launch, Growth, Maturity and Decline. The report separates technologies into business-user-focused and developer-focused views, reflecting whether they are primarily used by heads of AI, AI strategy leads and other business end-users, or by technical builders, such as front- and back-end engineers, data scientists and data architects. AI leaders, technology executives and investors should use this report to support their agentic rollout, prioritize investment opportunities and identify solutions to monitor. Firms seeking near-term returns should focus on enabling technologies in the Growth or Maturity phases, while innovators and early adopters should evaluate Launch-phase technologies for pilots and longer-term strategic advantage.
