Executive Summary

A growing body of research has highlighted the risks of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on the environment and human health. Regulatory bodies, particularly in North America and Europe, have expanded the scope of product compliance standards on subsets of PFAS. This puts pressure on firms to gain deeper visibility into their globalized supply chains, as new regulations could cause costly disruptions and parts obsolescence. This report provides a high-level understanding of the major regulatory frameworks driving increased scrutiny of the manufacture, distribution and sale of products containing PFAS. Firms can use this report to learn about how PFAS creates emerging risks for an organization, and the impact of this on the role of the EHS function. Finally, the report presents solutions to enable EHS professionals to proactively manage existing and developing compliance obligations as their organizations grow.
