Executive Summary
Sustainable procurement provides an opportunity for suppliers to align sustainability goals and commercial outcomes. It generates cost savings and new opportunities, while mitigating environmental and social risks. However, sustainable procurement practices are often stalled by a lack of internal buy-in, price volatility, data silos and gaps, and poor visibility across the supplier network. To overcome these barriers, a growing range of digital tools are offering key strategic support for firms to balance short-term, cost-effective decisions with long-term sustainability success. This report explores the value and challenges of sustainable procurement and provides insights into relevant technology options that can support the integration of sustainability factors into procurement decision-making.
