Executive Summary

In recent months global technology firm Siemens has made a series of announcements that will impact its Building Technologies division. It has strengthened its portfolio of solutions for smart buildings by acquiring Comfy, Enlighted and J2 Innovations. Then in August 2018, Siemens launched a new company strategy, “Vision 2020+”, that sets out a pathway to make the firm nimbler and more profitable in an era of fast-moving digitalization. This report analyses Siemens’ trio of acquisitions in the smart building market and reviews what building operators should expect from Siemens in the future. To maximize the synergies from these new acquisitions with existing capabilities, Verdantix believes that Siemens needs to work at turning complementary products into a coherent proposition.
