Executive Summary

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been deployed successfully across all aspects of the built environment to unlock efficiency and productivity improvements within both existing and new workflows.

Verdantix has taken a holistic view of the market and identified the key applications of AI in building operations, alongside exciting new applications of the technology developed through advancements such as large language models (LLMs) and generative AI (GenAI). We have drawn upon vendor responses to questionnaires for other research reports, and previously provided information, alongside conducting extensive desk research, to consolidate our view of offerings in the market that harness AI technologies.

GenAI and LLMs present significant opportunity in the operations, and design and construction phases of buildings; although the technology is nascent, some solutions have already come to market that showcase their application. This report should be leveraged by corporate readers to better understand the solutions currently available to improve operational efficiency, and to gain insights into those that are emerging both in operations and in other parts of the building life cycle.
