Executive Summary
This report provides a detailed, fact-based benchmark of 10 of the most prominent grid-aware distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) providers. Using the proprietary Verdantix Green Quadrant methodology, the analysis draws on structured vendor questionnaires, live demonstration and briefing sessions, customer evidence, and desk research to score vendors across comprehensive technical – encompassing visibility, forecasting and optimization, control and grid services, interoperability, architecture and security, AI, and user interface – and momentum criteria. The study finds that the DERMS market is maturing, but still uneven. Utilities are prioritizing solutions that make feeders safe for high distributed energy resource (DER) penetration, accelerate interconnections and connection enablement, and orchestrate demand response (DR) and virtual power plant (VPP) programmes without breaching local constraints. At the same time, they aim to retain simulate-then-execute governance and ensure clean integration with advanced distribution management systems (ADMS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. The Green Quadrant analysis recognizes four vendors as Leaders: Emerson’s AspenTech, GE Vernova, OATI and Schneider Electric.Summary for decision-makers
