Executive Summary
This report helps product managers at operational risk software vendors and project managers at IT systems integrators to understand the acceptability of different deployment options for operational risk management (ORM) software. During May and June 2018, Verdantix conducted telephone interviews with 221 directors and managers in operations, production, maintenance and safety roles in relation to operational risk management topics. The survey finds that acceptability of cloud software is much higher amongst operational leaders as compared to EHS decision-makers. Eighty per cent of the respondents stated private cloud deployment as either ‘preferred’ or ‘acceptable’, while public cloud deployment is acceptable to 73% of the buyers of ORM software. Moreover, firms in oil and gas have a clear preference for private cloud deployment, while those in manufacturing prefer on-premise.
