On August 19, Germany-based compliance and sustainability software provider osapiens announced the acquisition of Nasdaq Metrio, Nasdaq’s sustainability reporting and carbon accounting platform. The deal follows osapiens’s $100 million Series C funding round in January 2026, which targeted further product development and international expansion beyond its European hub. The acquisition strengthens osapiens’s reporting capabilities and North American presence while supporting its wider proposition across sustainability, compliance and supply chain management.

Two core questions emerge from this transaction:

What does the acquisition mean for osapiens?

osapiens’s platform, osapiens HUB, already supports sustainability reporting, carbon management, product compliance and supply chain processes through modular applications that draw on shared master data. This enables firms to reuse information across regulatory and operational workflows.

Nasdaq Metrio adds depth to this proposition. Acquired by Nasdaq in 2022, the Canada-based Metrio platform holds strong non-financial reporting and carbon accounting capabilities that cover a range of voluntary frameworks and standards – such as CDP, GRI and IFRS – as well as California’s climate disclosure requirements. Its audit-ready data management functionality also supports the collection, validation and traceability of disclosure data. Metrio strengthens osapiens’s disclosure management capabilities, especially related to US-specific requirements, while osapiens connects reporting with broader operational and supply chain processes. Together, these capabilities support organizations managing reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Metrio also gives osapiens a faster route into North America, where the firm has historically had less visibility than in Europe. Its existing enterprise customers and reference accounts provide osapiens with a more established regional base. The deal creates opportunities to introduce Metrio clients to osapiens’s compliance and supply chain applications, while providing existing osapiens customers with stronger support for North American reporting requirements.

What does this deal say about the broader sustainability software market?

osapiens’s acquisition of Metrio is another manifestation of a trend of continued consolidation in the sustainability software market. Novisto’s acquisition of Minimum brought carbon accounting and sustainability management closer together, while ASUENE’s acquisition of Secaro connected carbon management with supply chain sustainability. These transactions are also consistent with the prediction Verdantix made at the beginning of the year: that further platform consolidation will shape the market in 2026 (see Verdantix Market Insight: 10 Predictions For ESG & Sustainability In 2026 And Beyond).

The opportunity for osapiens is to bring Metrio’s reporting workflows into the shared data architecture of osapiens HUB, allowing customers to use operational and supplier information more consistently across disclosures and other business processes. This broader use of data strengthens osapiens’s proposition, as buyers increasingly look for connected platforms that streamline sustainability, carbon management and supply chain processes ( Buyer Insights: Feedback From The 2026 Supply Chain Sustainability Software Green Quadrant).
