EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On January 10, 2012, MITIE, the UK energy and facilities management provider announced its acquisition of UK energy strategy consultant Utilyx. The acquisition provides Utilyx, which will continue to operate independently, with working capital and additional business operation platforms for international expansion and gives MITIE access to board-level decision-makers as well as a top tier energy strategy consulting team specializing in managing energy risk and procurement. Working together, Utilyx and MITIE aim to deliver a vertically integrated energy and facilities service proposition to customers, and gives scope for multinational expansion. Verdantix believes the acquisition is well timed given the pace of M&A activity in the energy services market. The deal responds to increasing demands for large-scale energy efficiency programmes, innovation in contractual frameworks and end-to-end energy services delivery.
