EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report provides an assessment of the strategic alliance between IHS and Deloitte announced in September 2011. Verdantix heard that IHS plans to create an ecosystem of IT systems integrator partners to drive sales for enterprise-wide, technology-enabled sustainability transformation programmes. IHS believes the time is right to focus on large-scale sustainability projects due to customer plans to take a more strategic approach to sustainability over the next 5 years. By applying criteria set out in a strategic alliances “playbook”, IHS selected Deloitte as the first partner for its sustainability transformation ecosystem due to Deloitte’s global brand, CFO relationships, technology advisory and implementation capabilities, established sustainability business consulting and assurance expertise. To execute on the sustainability transformation proposition, IHS needs to accelerate the roll out of its integrated sustainability management software platform that facilitates data flows and process management optimization across energy, GHG emissions, environmental compliance, product stewardship and sustainability reporting.
