Executive Summary
On June 28, 2010, URS made an initial bid of 210 pence per share for Scott Wilson. Following a 245 pence per share bid by CH2M HILL, URS closed the deal with a final price of 290 pence per share. This deal values Scott Wilson at £233 million ($359 million). URS cites the reasons for this purchase as increased UK operations, greater global reach and promising short and long-term growth opportunities. Scott Wilson will also add to URS’s climate change and sustainability capabilities as well as a number of contracts, like the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme and London’s Crossrail project. The new acquisition means URS will become one of the top ten engineering firms by revenue in the UK.
